Weight Loss And Nutrition

Buy a high quality Multivitamin / multimineral (capsules not tablets). Magnesium deficiency, zinc deficiency, and B-vitamin deficiencies cause the dieting illnesses anorexia, bulimia, etc. The best multivitamin / multimineral is probably this 3 a day supplement (use this UPC in any shopping search engine 076280047646 ). Start off at one capsule a day in the morning. Three a day may be too much. If you take an iron supplement don’t stop because if this multivitamin / multimineral supplement.

Weight Loss Math

No sense of how much sugar is in a product? The number of grams of sugar listed on the label divided by 4 = number of teaspoons of sugar per serving. For example “Sugars 14″ = 3.5 teaspoons of sugar per serving.

Weight Loss and Fast Foods

Avoid fast foods. Most have too much fat and or sugar and or salt to lose weight. Never eat a fast food without knowing it’s fat, calorie, sugar, and sodium content.

Weight Loss and Soda

Avoid soda like the plague. Soda pushes your pH down which causes fatigue. The body responds to low pH by pulling calcium and magnesium off bone.

Weight Loss and Blood Sugar Control

Eat three rich sources of potassium (especially bananas, orange juice) Potassium is necessary for keeping blood sugar normal between meals. Magnesium deficiency will cause a potassium deficiency. If you buy a magnesium supplement, start off with 1/4 of what ever magnesium supplement you bought before bed every other day – and that may be all you ever need.

Too Much Potassium

To much potassium from potassium supplements will make you angry, irrational, and restless (same for significant potassium deficiency). This doesn’t usually occur with potassium from food (potassium citrate).

Weight Loss and Muscle

Weight loss without enough potassium causes an emaciated look due to loss of muscle.

Weight Loss and Hunger

A drop in blood sugar almost always causes hunger, therefore potassium is necessary to avoid hunger. If you’re hungry and want to stay on your diet, eat protein without any fixins (including bread). Complete proteins are meat, fish, eggs, quinoa, soybeans, buckwheat, amaranth, and spirulina.

Weight Loss, Nitrogen, Water

Be certain to drink extra water when eating a lot of protein in order to keep the nitrogen of protein flushed out. People who die from a pure protein diet die of nitrogen poisoning. Drink at least three large glasses of water a day – can be in a short amount of time or throughout the day.

Weight Loss and Sugar

Avoid products that have any form of sugar in the first 7 ingredients listed on the label, especially “corn syrup”, “High Fructose Corn Syrup” and “liquid sugar”.

Breakfast Helps With Weight Loss

Eat breakfast. When you’re sleeping you’re not eating, therefore you’re fasting. If you don’t eat breakfast you’re extending the fast. If you’re fasting too long or too often you’re body will think it’s in a famine environment and will work to prevent weight loss. Try not to eat four or fewer hours before going to bed – Inactivity, such as sleeping, often causes weight gain.

Weight Loss and Satiety

Eat food that makes you feel full increase satiety (satisfaction) i.e. apples, bananas, grains. Try that new “full bar”. Apples contain many different, helpful phytochemicals.

Sugar Fix

Sugary foods are not filling and are a very short term fix.

Weight loss and Satiety Again

Hot sauces on food, if you like them, increase satiety. Buy bottle of hot sauce instead of eating out. “Frank’s” is pretty hot sauce and very inexpensive.

Too Hot

Not so hot you don’t want to eat hot spices. If you’ve eaten too much or to hot of a hot spice or pepper, hold milk in your mouth to stop a too-hot crisis, burning will subside in about 20 minutes.

Weight loss and Satiety Again

A significant enough magnesium deficiency will prevent satiety no matter what you eat.

Weight Loss and Favorite Foods

If your favorite foods are not part of your diet, be sure to have one day a week where you eat one or two servings of your favorite food. one day of the week. Dieters that cheat occasionally w/o going overboard are happier with their diet and therefore stay on their diet longer.

Weight Loss and Fiber

Eat high quality mutigrain bread. Avoid white bread, raises blood sugar like sugar, has little fiber.

Believe it or not most bread these days contains sugar. If any of the first 7 ingredients on the label is a form of sugar don’t buy it.

Too Much

Too much fiber without enough water can cause constipation. Drink plenty of water when on high fiber diet

Keep an eye on the expiration date – dark colored bread has a tendency to hide green mold for the first few days of green mold growth. Eating green mold will likely upset your stomach. Consider freezing half the loaf.

Weight Loss and Alcohol

If you drink alcohol, be certain to eat before you drink. Alcohol is not fattening, it’s the large amount of food and junk food eating with alcohol that’s fattening. Try a pistachio muffins before drinking, really helps prevent binge eating.

Weight Loss and Holidays

Live it up on Christmas, Thanksgiving, not before and after.

Weight Loss and Medical Needs

If fatigue is a problem consider having thyroid tests.

Losing Weight is Great

Even more important is making sure you don’t gain weight.

Why Sugar Causes Weight Gain

The blood stream can hold only 2 teaspoons worth of sugar. A bottle/can of soda on average contains 8 or more teaspoons of sugar. When more sugar is eaten than the blood can handle, the sugar is moved to fat cells and turned into saturated fat, especially fat cells closest to the stomach. When all the fat cells have all the sugar they can hold and there’s still more sugar to deal with, insulin signals the body to create more fat cells.

A healthy weight loss diet includes avoiding food products that are made by removing the fat content (“No Fat!”). The fat removed is replaced with carbohydrate substances. According to a PBS Frontline report, weight increase of Americans mirrors the removal of fat from food products, “During the low-fat era of the ’90s, Americans got fatter than ever. By 2001, one third of our population was obese.”

But the rise in obesity (and diabetes) also mirrors food manufacturers’ switch from adding cane sugar to food products to two other forms of sugar called corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Ingredients on labels are listed in descending order of amount, so a product with some form of sugar as the second ingredient has more sugar than a product with sugar as the fourth ingredient, although some products have one form of sugar as the second ingredient and another form of sugar as the fourth ingredient. Even if all obvious sweets (cookies, candy, etc.) are avoided, a significant amount of weight gain comes from unknowingly (or knowingly) eating food products that contain plenty of sugar. Most pasta sauces (in the U.S.) contain plenty of sugar, but pasta sauce is not usually thought of as a sweet. Pasta sauce isn’t a sweet, but manufacturers add so much sugar to pasta sauce that sugar is one of the first seven ingredients in almost all pasta sauces. There is only one solution for this problem; read at least the first 7 ingredients of all food labels and avoid food products that have any form of sugar within these first seven ingredients.

Diet Extremes And Losing Weight

A healthy weight loss diet and diet extremes are opposites. Fat and carbohydrates are necessary nutrients, but there are good fats and bad fats and good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates. Diets that avoid or are very low in carbohydrates may help lose weight for several weeks, but when the weight stops coming off the low carbohydrate diet has to continue to keep the lost weight off. Avoiding both fat and carbohydrates and eating mostly protein causes deaths all the time. Very high protein diets cause a build up of nitrogen.

Sweets And Xylitol

While xylitol has a chemical sounding name, it is not regulated by the FDA because it is a food. For humans, xylitol is the best sugar there is. It is absorbed slowly, does not raise blood sugar, helps with ear infections, is just as sweet as table sugar (sucrose), naturally found in the fiber of many fruits and vegetables, commercially derived from corn and birch trees, does not cause dental cavities, and has a net effect of zero calories. If you want your cake and healthy weight loss too, substitute xylitol for sugar when making your own cake (or cookies, or cupcakes, or pies).

Xylitol is DANGEROUS for DOGS, causing seizures and dangerously low blood sugar within 30 minutes. If you decide to use xylitol and have a dog or visiting dog, do not feed the dog food made with xylitol, and keep others from feeding the dog food made with xylitol.

Too Many Fat Cells – The Hard Truth

When you lose weight quickly, fat cells don’t die off, they become skinnier fat cells. With more fat cells than normal, the only way to get to a normal weight is to have skinnier fat cells than normal. An overweight person has to work to get fat cells skinny because they have so many more fat cells. A person who was never overweight doesn’t have a high number of fat cells and therefore doesn’t have to work as much to keep their fat cells at their normal size. The body will shed fat cells when its fed so that it doesn’t “think” it’s in a famine environment.

Liposuction

There are a lot of unqualified people with a “certification” (four hour class) for performing liposuction. Prevent a disaster, use a dermatologic surgeon trained and experienced in liposuction with references before having any liposuction surgery.
